The man accused of stabbing a grocery store employee will be held until trial.
Scott Rydel is accused of stabbing the employee at the Lowes at Lomas and 11th Street when the employee tried to stop him from stealing a bottle of alcohol.
Friday in court, prosecutors asked that Rydel be held without bond saying he was a danger to the community, but his attorneys argued it’s a case of self-defense.
“This is an incident where a person produces a knife, starts to disengage and is lunged at while holding the knife,” defense attorney Maxwell Pines said.
Despite the claim, Judge Stan Whitaker granted the state’s motion.
Rydel has a history of violence in Wyoming.
