A New Mexico man is behind bars for allegedly killing a man while driving drunk.

It happened on US 70 in Roosevelt County early Saturday morning.

New Mexico State Police say 31-year-old Ricardo Navarrete was speeding and struck another car from behind causing it to overturn.

The other driver, 41-year-old Jose Saldana-Pinales, was killed.

Officers say Navarrete’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Navarrete is facing a vehicular homicide charge.
