An Albuquerque father accused of beating his infant son so badly he nearly died will remain behind bars, at least for now.

Evan Ritchey is accused of squeezing his 4-month-old son, head butting him and choking the baby when he wouldn’t stop crying.

Prosecutors are asking that Ritchey remain behind bars until trial.

Thursday, his attorney asked that hearing be delayed until they can get some witnesses lined up to testify on Ritchey’s behalf.

He will remain behind bars until that happens.
