An Albuquerque boy with a love for baseball got a special surprise over the weekend.
Trenton Garrison was born with complex congenital heart disease.
His condition has kept the 7-year-old from playing baseball, but that has never stopped him from participating.
Dressed in blue, Trenton calls the games from behind home plate.
Over the weekend, Garrison’s family got to meet Major League Baseball Umpire Doug Eddings, a treat for not just Trenton, but for Doug as well.
“For him to follow, not really athletes but umpires, was really humbling and I was looking forward to this day and meeting him,” said Eddings.
Eddings gave Trenton the mask he wore during a recent game, a jersey and several game balls.
Eddings also plans to make arrangements for Trenton and his family to meet him in Arizona for spring training in March.
