ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- Prom is close for most high school students and an important issue is for parents with their children should be discussed before they leave for the dance.

Drinking. It might be a hard topic for parents to discuss with their teens because they might not know where to start, but an organization is making that process easier.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is New Mexicoโ€™s teen influencer Group that work to help teens to understand the dangers of drinking.

The month of April is being dedicated by MADD as PowerTalk21. PowerTalk21 sets the month aside for parents to have effective conversations with their teens about alcohol.

MADD is putting on a 20 minute workshop designed to empower parents to make conversations effective.

According to MADD, children are weighing the pros and cons of drinking starting as early as eight years old so MADD is dedicating April 21 as National Talk With Your Kids About Alcohol Day.
