Luna County detective charged with perjury

News

A New Mexico sheriff’s detective is accused of lying when he said a suspect confessed to child rape.

Luna County Detective Bobby Brookhouser filed an arrest warrant last year claiming that during an interview, a man had admitted to inappropriately touching a minor.

However, investigators say Brookhouser was the one who actually came up with the story and the suspect never agreed with it.

Brookhouser is facing charges for perjury and making a false report.
