RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – This is one kind of war that is entertaining and you don’t have to travel to galaxies far, far away.

The Loma Colorado Main Library is having a “Star Wars” Festival on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Festival-goers will be able to enjoy giant displays of Lego “Star Wars,” have their picture taken with members of the local 501st and Rebel Legions, make a personal “Star Wars” movie scene on an iPad, create “Star Wars” crafts, participate in a Droid Hunt, and win “Star Wars” themed prizes.

This all-ages event has a contest for best “Star Wars” costume and a Wookie Roar. Winners of these contesst will receive”Star Wars” prizes.

The 501st and Rebel legions are all-volunteer organizations that seek to promote interest in “Star Wars” through the building and wearing of quality costumes. They look to support their local communities through costumed charity and volunteer work.

Last year, this festival attracted more than 700 guests.
