Local Search & Rescue K-9 team asks community for help with pet food, supplies

The Sandoval County Search & Rescue K-9 team is asking for help with pet food and resources to maintain their program with a GoFundMe account.

Two new K-9 members have joined the Rio Grande Basin Heavy Technical Rescue Team, comprised of members of the  Rio Rancho, Corrales or Sandoval County Fire Department.

Sandoval County is comprised of more than 3,700 square miles of rugged county, most of which is forest, Federal, or Tribal and for Search & Rescue, under those circumstances, K-9s are a vital resource.

However, those dogs require specialized training and equipment. Currently, all of the expense incurred by the dogs, from food and gear to training is being covered by volunteers.

They need help and are asking for donations from the public to keep this important effort going.

Donations can be made to their Go Fund Me website.
