Local nonprofits receive $24K to combat homelessness in Albuquerque

News

A local foundation is helping fight homelessness in Albuquerque with a major donation.

Pennies for the Homeless and the Albuquerque Community Foundation donated $24,000 to local nonprofits. The recipients include APS Title 1, Joy Junction and Healthcare for the Homeless.

“Everyone here today, we wanted to make sure that we keep your doors open as long as we can because you’re the ones making a difference in our world,” Pennies for the Homeless founder, Joseph Saavedra, said.

Each gets $4,000. The money was raised during an Albuquerque Community Foundation event last year.
