ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It causes 24 million children to miss school, but there may now be a solution.
When parents receive the news that bugs have crawled into their child’s head, a solution to get rid of bugs an eggs is highly needed. Lice Clinics of America Albuquerque is working on way to help with lice and super lice.
Unfortunately, with super lice, the drug resistant strain has developed an immunity to the drugs and shampoos.
Lice Clinics of America Albuquerque Owner, Gretchen Collins, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss solutions. Watch above.
It’s estimated that between six to 12 million cases of lice infestations occur every year. The primary reason to get lice is when there is direct contact with an infested individual.
The local clinic is offering a quick and effective cure for eliminating super lice and their eggs through a three step process involving the FDA cleared medical device, topical rinse and comb.
The medical device is called AirAlle. It kills lice and eggs through controlled heated air by dehydrating them with a specific combination of temperature, airflow time and technique. This device is 99.2 percent effective.
The treatment is a one time treatment costing $170, but the local clinic is able to provide Medicaid users with a lower price.
