Friday was the day many foster kids have been waiting for; their adoptions became official.
Bernalillo County’s Second Judicial Court hosted an adoption day.
Parents say it is a special feeling to welcome these kids, who have faced hard times, into the family.
“I feel honored to call myself her father. I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Kristopher Wessel, who adopted a child.
This is the second year the court has held this pre-Mother’s Day event.
There are currently more than 2,600 children in foster care in New Mexico.
