ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Valentine’s Day, usually blanketed in red, will show tribute to pink his holiday weekend.

“Lobo’s Love Pink” will be the theme this Saturday, Feb. 14, honoring courageous women at the women’s basketball game facing off with the University of Nevada, Reno, Wolf Pack.

During half-time, a ceremony will be held and spectators attending the game are asked to wear pink also.

The University of New Mexico Cancer Center is hosting this incredible event for both survivors and those still fighting this awful cancer.

The American Cancer Society estimated that nearly 1,450 New Mexico women received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2014 and 260 could die from this disease.

Second to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women and is the leading cause of cancer death among all women.
