Lobos defense continues to look stout in the spring

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s only three more days until the annual spring showcase. Lobo football fans will get a chance to get a close look at the 2016 team. Like most teams, defense is usually ahead of the offense during the spring. That appears to be the case most days for the Lobos. The defense has looked stout with pressure coming off the line up front and Lobo linebackers and secondary patrolling past the line of scrimmage.

Ten starters return on a defense that seem to have found an identity towards the end of the 2015 season. One of those returners is safety Lee Crosby. He had a pair of sacks, two interceptions, 54 tackles and a touchdown last season. He will be a senior when the 2016 season starts. “Lee Crosby loves football,” said head coach Bob Davie. He is a contact player. “We play him at nickle which sometimes turns into a linebacker.”

Crosby could be even more productive in 2016. He loves that the team plays with more aggression on his side of the football. “Probably the most aggressive, we blitz almost every play and, somebody in my position, I get to play man and I also get to blitz so I love it,” said Crosby. Gates at University Stadium open at 1:30 for the Lobos Spring Showcase Saturday.
