Lawmaker wants to require presidential candidates to disclose tax returns

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A bill requiring presidential candidates to publicly release their tax returns before their names can appear on a New Mexico ballot is moving through the Senate.

Sen. Jacob Candelaria is sponsoring the bill inspired by President Donald Trump’s choice not to disclose his personal income tax returns.

Legislators in other states including New York and Ohio have introduced similar bills.
