Law enforcement officers from around the state are taking part in a training program to honor fallen Deputy James McGrane.
He was shot and killed during a traffic stop back in 2006.
The 12th annual “Deputy James McGrane Officer Survivor Training Course” started Tuesday.
His parents Jim and Rita McGrane started the program in hopes of retraining hundreds of officers with lifesaving tactics.
“It’s very important to support our law enforcement officers. I feel that this is my honor to do this every year,” said Rita McGrane.
The survival training is free to all New Mexico law enforcement and continues Wednesday.
