The University of New Mexico Hospital is using virtual reality headsets to give sick kids something else to think about.
The children’s hospital recently received a donation of VR headsets for their child life program.
The headsets give children a new way to explore, play and learn while receiving treatment.
“Initially it was nervewracking for her, but just for her knowing there was going to be somebody to play with that isn’t Mom, I think that’s a really nice distraction for her,” the mother of a young leukemia survivor said.
The headsets were donated by Child’s Play Charity, who seek to improve the lives of children in hospitals through the power of play.
