Firefighters in Los Alamos are continuing to monitor the aftermath of a fire that burned three acres in Los Alamos Canyon.
The Los Alamos Fire Department responded to a fire that was spotted around 4:30 p.m.Wednesday in the Los Alamos Canyon near the Canyon Rim Trailhead across NM 502 from the Co-op and Holiday Inn Express.
Officials say the fire burned about three acres, and crews are making progress on establishing containment lines. The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities stated that the blaze was a ground fire and there is no estimate on the percentage contained at this time.
This is the same area where a four-acre Omega fire happened last month.
NM 502 is still open to traffic, but people are being asked to avoid the area.
