The city of Roswell is clarifying its rules on euthanizing shelter animals. According to the Roswell Daily Record, local shelters operate on a seven-day rule.
On days one to four, owners can reclaim their animals. On days five through seven, the pet is put up for adoption. After that, it’s 21 days before the animal can be put down.
The clarification comes after a social media account accused the shelter of putting a dog down just 19 days after it was made available for adoption.
The city says it’s now working to align all shelters on the same processing system for all animals.
