Two large groups of migrants have been apprehended in New Mexico by Border Patrol agents. Border Patrol officials apprehended over 650 immigrants who crossed into New Mexico Tuesday alone.

Authorities say a group of more than 424 migrants were taken into custody early Tuesday morning near Sunland Park. They say an hour later at the Antelope Wells Port of Entry, another group was arrested, this time with 230.

Officials state that the majority of each group mostly consisted of Central American families as well as unaccompanied juveniles. This comes as more asylum seekers flood into shelters in nearby cities.
