The Junior Market Lamb Show got underway Tuesday morning at Expo New Mexico.
Kids from 4-H programs across the state came out to show the lambs they’ve been raising all year.
Judges look for harvest qualities in the animals – like their muscular build, how much meat they’ll provide, and how well they walk.
Kids in the program say caring for animals teaches them responsibility and money management, but also brings them a lot of pride and joy.
“It just makes the whole year of giving up your time and all the effort that you put in and even the fights with your parents that you get into it just makes it all worth it,” 4-H member Cursten Blanton said.
If you missed Tuesday’s event, you can check out the Junior Steer Show, Wednesday morning at 8:00 in the dairy barn.
