Jury finds Roswell doctor and nurse at fault in birthing death

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A jury says a Roswell doctor and nurse were at fault for the death of a woman giving birth, and they’ve ordered them to pay her family millions.

28-year-old Sarahy Fierro of Lake Arther suffered a stroke after her blood pressure skyrocketed. She was able to deliver her son, but never regained consciousness.

Her family sued saying Dr. Eric Peterson and nurse Kemischa Anderson failed to properly and timely diagnose and treat Sarahy’s high blood pressure.

A jury agreed, ordering the pair to pay the family $3 million. The doctor must pay 70% of that and the nurse must pay 30%.
