July campaign urges community to help homeless

News

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local non-profit provides housing for those who are experiencing homelessness.

Heading home is an Albuquerque initiative  that provides permanent and stable housing to those who are most prone to dying on the streets. Most particularly, those who have been chronically homeless and are medically vulnerable.

Their July campaign is Cutting Out Homelessness.

Cutting Out Homelessness showcases the fact that homelessness is an issue that can be solved. Addressing the community is one way they feel will help.

The campaign started three years ago with owners of a salon, Square Roots. Now, there are 14 participating salons and barber shops with more than 100 stylists.

The task to help is simple; the community is being asked to get their hair cut, dyed, or styled at one of the participating salons to donate to the cause.
