Judge denies New Mexico serial killer’s request to withdraw guilty plea

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of New Mexico’s most notorious serial killers will not be getting out of prison any time soon.

Clifton Bloomfield pleaded guilty in 2008 to five murders over four years, including the killings of Carlos Esquibel, Josephine Selvage, Scott Pierce and Tak and Pung Yi.

He is currently serving 195 years, but late last year he asked a judge if he could withdraw his guilty plea.

New Mexico’s Attorney General Hector Balderas was there to make sure that didn’t happen.

Thursday, the judge agreed, denying Bloomfield’s request.
