ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jon “Bones” Jones made his return to the UFC after more than 15 months of being away. Jones defeated Ovince Saint Preux by unanimous decision on Saturday night in the UFC 197 headliner.
It wasn’t the fight that the fans were expecting, as Bones heard a sound he had never heard before.
“At one moment when I was hearing the boo’s, I realized that I am chasing this guy and he was just circling and backing up. So, I just think the fans are used to me doing and giving them cool exciting stuff, so they saw a more hesitant version of me”, said Interim Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
Jones took home the interim belt, but while it is shiny and looks good it is not the real belt. Jones has his eye on regaining the title he held.
“I have been training for one fighter and they threw me this taller, power punching, switching stances, you know it just wasn’t what I was prepared for. So, I believe that I can beat Daniel Cormier right now, for sure and I am going to prove that as soon as possible”, said Jones.
Jon “Bones” Jones betters his career record to 22-1. He did hurt his shin and foot in the fight with OSP, but in the post-fight press conference he said he will be back in the gym as early as Wednesday.
