Isotopes win finale against Sacramento

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Tim Smalling started the scoring with a three run blast in the second inning to give the Isotopes an early lead.

It wasn’t long before the Isotopes found themselves trailing 7 to 4 to visiting Sacramento. The sixth inning was the difference in the game. The Isotopes scored six runs in the inning on their way to a 10 to 7 victory. With the game tied at 7 in the 6th, Roger Bernadina stepped up to the plate with two on and delivered the game winning three run shot.

After the game, Bernadina talked about the homer. “You know he throw me a pitch that I was looking for,” said Bernadina. It was a pitch middle way. He gave me the fast ball and right at bat I know I got it.” Isotopes skipper Glenallen Hill was glad Bernadina got it.

It might lead to more playing time. “Bernadina hasn’t played much”,said Hill. Hopefully in the next road trip you will get to see him more. I am looking to put him in the lineup, maybe change some things around.”

The play of the game came from pitcher Jairo Diaz. He made a very difficult behind the back catch on a bouncer that came right at him.

The Isotopes are at Round Rock starting Thursday.
