Gates will open for the Albuquerque Isotopes 16th season Tuesday night and there are plenty of new things in store for fans this season.
This upcoming season is packed with firework shows, giveaways, themed nights, unique food items and for four nights this year, the ‘Topes will become the “Mariachis de Nuevo Mexico.”
“We’re going to have mariachi players playing throughout the outside of the stadium, inside of the stadium playing the national anthem. We’re going to have dancers, we are going to have decorations inside of the ballpark, ” said General Manager John Traub.
The ballpark and the team will transform into the Mariachis for four games only.
Traub explains that it’s all part of Minor League Baseball’s initiative celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture.
The food will even have a special theme on those nights.
There are a dozen new unique treats fans will be able to get their hands on this season like dessert poutine, the buffalo chicken cheeseburger, the New Mexicago dog and the general manager’s favorite the chile relleno burger.
“The biggest thing that I’ve seen on the new menu is the chile relleno burger. This thing is the size of a mini football it’s huge,” said Traub.
Another addition this year is a new party suite that fits 50 to 70 people. Traub explained that they’ve combined three suites into one and says they can also be used in the offseason for events like meetings and weddings.
