The roads and highways around WIPP are about to get some much needed attention.
The state received $27 million as part of the settlement with the Department of Energy following the radiation leak at WIPP.
That money will be used to make improvements to state roads 176 and 18, and highways 285 and 60.
The governor’s office says the construction will begin soon and continue through next year.
Those roads see more traffic because of WIPP, and therefore more deterioration.
