House committee recommends approving death penalty revival bill

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The governor’s proposal to bring back the death penalty is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Monday night during the legislature’s special session, a House committee recommended approving the bill which would reinstate the punishment for murderers who kill children, police or corrections officers.

The proposal now heads to the full House. The special session is set to pick up again Wednesday, where lawmakers will also get back to discussing solutions to the state’s budget crisis.
