ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff was presented with a special gift Monday by an honorary deputy, 5-year-old Jason Garcia.
Garcia was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2013. Shortly after being diagnosed, Garcia became an honorary deputy with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.
Garcia presented Sheriff Manny Gonzales with a gift as a “thank you” for helping him in his fight to recovery.
Sheriff Gonzales made sure to remind Garcia deputies will always be around for him.
Garcia is currently in remission but is still undergoing treatment.
