ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A home healthcare worker is in jail accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a women she was supposed to be helping.
Police say Janelle Martinez was caught on surveillance video using a debit card belonging to an elderly women she worked with.
She’s accused of racking up nearly $8,000 in charges at Walmart’s throughout the city. Also, at Zales Jewelry in Coronado Center.
Police say she also used the money to pay bills and gave money to friends.
Martinez was arrested as she tried to cash a fraudulent check for $750,000. The teller alerted police and they met Martinez as she pulled out of the drive thru.
She’s facing more than 40 counts.
