A Harvard professor has some harsh words about coconut oil.
During a lecture in Germany, Karin Michels called the oil “pure poison” and said claims about its health benefits are “absolute nonsense.”
She says coconut oil increases both ‘bad’ cholesterol associated with increased risk of heart disease, and the ‘good’ cholesterol.
Many health experts agree coconut oil is fine occasionally.
However, for day-to-day use, they recommend cooking with olive, canola or soybean oil instead.
