Group home for at-risk kids in Albuquerque closes its doors

News

Group home for at-risk kids in Albuquerque closed Monday following a series of lawsuits and allegations.

Desert Hills located near Coors and Sequoia lost its operating license after the CYFD found it in violation of a number of policies. There have also been allegations of rape, assault and neglect.

There were 77 kids at the 120-bed facility as of December 2018. CYFD officials say the last of the children were moved elsewhere over the weekend.

The treatment center was for children who struggle with emotional, behavioral or substance abuse issues.
