City officials broke ground on the much anticipated Topgolf project Wednesday.
Topgolf is building a $39 million restaurant and golf entertainment complex at the corner of Montano of I-25 where the Beach Waterpark used to be.
The agreement includes giving Topgolf more than $4 million in tax breaks and incentives from both the city and the county. In return, Topgolf is agreeing to create at least 200 jobs. Both sides are excited about the opportunity.
“We’re truly excited to be growing this game in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I mean, if you take a look at the year-round weather, it’s a no brainer as it’s a win-win for Topgolf and Albuquerque,” said Sanjay Aurora with Topgolf.
The facility is expected to open in the summer of 2020.
