The Ronald McDonald House of New Mexico is opening a new location, the first-of-its-kind in the country.
On Monday, developers broke ground on the hotel for the Highland Redevelopment Project.
The hotel will include a Ronald McDonald House on one of its floors. It will include 20 guest rooms and common areas for the families of seriously ill or injured children.
“There’s a need to serve more families. Obviously, space is a premium around here, and so we work together to say, ‘Hey, how can we do this together?'” Jessica Wright, Ronald McDonald House of New Mexico spokesperson, said.
The entire project will include restaurants, apartments and more. It’s supposed to finish in four years.
