Grant awarded to non-profit to assist disabled victims of sexual assault

An Albuquerque non-profit has just received a grant to help disabled victims of sexual assault.

According to The Santa Fe New Mexican, the Arc of New Mexico received an $81,000 grant from the New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission to help with their new sexual assault services program.

The grant will allow the non-profit to provide legal aid and treatment referrals to 25 people from six counties.

An official with the organization says they hope this will help organizations who work with the disabled become more aware of sexual violence and learn how to help address it.

They plan to be operational by June 2019.
