Governor Martinez designates segments of Rio Grande Trail

A northern New Mexico trail is now much longer.

Tuesday, Governor Susana Martinez dedicated nearly 60 miles of the Rio Grande trail in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.

It is part of an effort that started back in 2015 to complete a trail from Colorado to Texas, spanning nearly 500 miles.

Now, more than 87 miles of the trail are designated in New Mexico.

The governor says the trail has the potential to be a significant economic driver for New Mexico.
