New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce returned to the same baseball field where a gunman ambushed Republican lawmakers.
Several were injured in the attack last year, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise who is still recovering.
Wednesday morning, the GOP team held their first practice since the shooting.
“We come out and practice, the Republicans, the Democrats practice at their field. But the day of the game it’s just baseball. It’s just America,” said Pearce.
Security is also higher this year.
The congressional baseball game for charity will be played in June. The bipartisan event has been held annually since 1909.
