ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – He doesn’t know if he will hear his name during the NFL Draft, but Lobos senior running back Crusoe Gongbay is hopeful.
The 5″11, 210 pound Gongbay has been noticed by a few NFL teams. He had a workout with the Washington Redskins recently and said it went well.
Gongbay has also learned that there is some interest from the Minnesota Vikings.
“You know right now some guys are talking about sneaking me in the late rounds,” said Gongbay. “Some guys are talking about inviting me to mini camp. So you know, you can never really know with these scouts. I am just hoping for the best.”
Gongbay made a contribution at New Mexico as soon as he arrived on campus. As a freshman he rushed for 500 yards and averaged nearly five yards per carry. He also scored five touchdowns that year.
His senior season was cut short by a foot injury but, not before he rushed for 354 yards and a touchdown. Gongbay’s foot is now a 100 percent and Gongbay is ready to make a contribution on the next level.
