ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The word “fat” typically has a negative connotation, but what may not be known is they could actually be good for us.

Fitness Expert, Kristin Rowe, talks good fats in this week’s edition of Fit Friday.

Good fats, like Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated Fats, are very important to our growth and development, they are one of the three macro-nutrients that are consumed in diets. They help to improve cholesterol levels, may help reduce risk factors of heart disease and stroke and can even boost your mood.

Rowe joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss

Conola, sunflower, olive, fla and safflower oils are all examples of good fats. Almonds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts, pecans, and pistachios are examples of good fats and this also includes salmon, tuna, and herring.

Rowe suggests the recommended intake of macro-nutrients is 25 to 30 percent of your daily diet.
