News

SILVER CITY, N.M. (KRQE) – A major restoration is underway in Grant County to help save a critical species. There is a concern about the Chiricahua leopard frogs.

Game and Fish says high water velocity has reduced safe habitat along the Mimbres River. Now, teams are using heavy equipment to clear pools of sediment and add places where fish can be more protected.

The project is expected to take three months to complete.
