The New Mexico Game and Fish Department is investigating why fish are dying at Quemado Lake.
The department says tiger muskies, goldfish, grass carp, crayfish and fathead minnows have all been found dead.
They say low oxygen levels could be behind the die-off, a result of the recent drought and high temperatures.
The department says they are investigating.
They also want to warn people it’s not safe to eat fish that were dead or dying when they were caught.
