The Santa Fe Opera wrapped up their free Winter Concert Series Sunday in Albuquerque.
Opera singers Shannon Jennings and Rafael Moras took to the stage at the Cathedral of Saint John Sunday afternoon.
They, along with a local choir, put on a mixed-bag show featuring classical opera, holiday songs and even pieces the audience could join in on.
Officials say it is a unique and intimate way to experience opera, which is usually viewed from afar.
“Sometimes if you’re in an opera house you know there’s a distance over the orchestra pit between the audience and the singers in this setting you know you really feel these voices right in your soul which is fantastic,” said Robert Tweten, Head of Music Staff at Santa Fe Opera.
The Opera also looks at the free series as a way to give back to New Mexico communities just in time for the holidays.
