Former state official convicted of burglary avoids jail time

News

A former state official who pleaded guilty to burglary will not face jail time.

Jerome Block was arrested in 2017 for burglarizing at a time-share his mother owns while the people staying there were asleep.

In court Wednesday, a judge sentenced Block to just three years probation.

This isn’t the first time Block has avoided jail time.

In 2011, he pleaded guilty to fraud and embezzlement while working for the Public Regulation Commission.

The judge in that case suspended four and a half years.
