The former owner of Nob Hill’s Scalo Restaurant was arrested Monday for a hit-and-run on I-40.
A semi-truck driver told police Stephen Paternoster sideswiped his truck near Clines Corners, then fled back in September.
Police were able to pull Paternoster over by matching his truck to a vehicle description. Paternoster, however, claims the semi-truck hit him.
Police say Paternoster was driving on a suspended license and didn’t have proof of insurance. He was booked into MDC on Monday on an outstanding bench warrant in the case.
Scandal has surrounded Paternoster since Scalo closed last year. He claims tax troubles and a water leak led to the closure. The restaurant planned to reopen last month but doors remain closed.
