ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – A former New Mexico baseball player is headed for the big leagues.
According to the Alamogordo Daily News, pitcher Chris Smith was picked up by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Originally from Kentucky, Smith played for the White Sands PupFish back in 2011. He’s only one of two players in Pecos League history to make it onto a major league roster. Jon Edwards was signed by the Texas Rangers in 2014.
