Firefighters contain wildfire that shut down Highway 116 near Bernardo

Fire officials have contained a wildfire in Socorro County that shut down Highway 116 just north of Bernardo Friday afternoon. 

Officials say the fire started around 3 p.m. Friday. 

The fire is now 90 percent contained and homes in the area are no longer threatened. 

New Mexico State Forestry and local fire departments will continue to mop up and patrol the area for hotspots throughout the day.
