FBI: Bodies found on Santa Ana Pueblo are missing sisters, children

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The FBI has confirmed the body found on the Santa Ana Pueblo Sunday was 20-year-old Leticia George, one of two sisters who went missing last week along with their children. Now, they’re waiting for the identities of the four other bodies found in the same area Monday and Tuesday.

The search is complete and at this time, investigators do not believe that anyone else is responsible for the deaths. Still, it leaves the grieving family with a lot of lingering questions.

Sky News 13 captured video of agencies including the FBI, Albuquerque police and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department searching the Santa Ana Pueblo.

Tuesday, authorities said crews found the bodies of an adult woman and a child following searches earlier in the week that turned up the bodies of two other children and a woman.

Investigators confirmed Tuesday that one of those women was 20-year-old Leticia George. Police had been looking for Leticia and her 1-year-old daughter Haleigh, as well as her sister, Vanessa George and Vanessa’s two kids, Zoe and Chloe.

The FBI was also at their home near Coors Boulevard and Interstate 40 on Tuesday. Neighbors there are just now learning, this hits close to home.

Investigators found Vanessa’s Toyota Tundra in a ravine in the area where crews recovered the bodies. Tuesday, a tow truck removed the pickup from the pueblo.

KRQE News 13 crews got a close-up look of the truck, revealing extensive damage to the front left side, a torn up tire and it looked as if the airbag had gone off.

No one is saying how the family may have died, but the FBI says it’s not looking for any suspects.

Police had originally questioned Vanessa’s estranged boyfriend, Murphy Becenti, who reported last seeing the family on the pueblo five days ago.

Two weeks ago, police went to the family’s westside home and arrested Becenti for battery, for allegedly pushing Vanessa. Becenti was out of jail the next day.
