Hundreds gathered at Civic Plaza Sunday morning to watch the final game of the 2018 World Cup.
The big screen drew big crowds as France defeated Croatia 4 to 2 in the highest scoring final game since England beat West Germany by the same amount of points back in 1996.
Despite the blow out win, fans from all sides could agree on one thing…
“It’s awesome. It’s so great to have so many people. There’s just a lot of energy and it’s great that we have this space we can all come together,” says Tiana Baca, Croatia supporter.
The big win comes just a day after Bastille Day in France and brings an end to the 31-day tournament.
The scene at Civic Plaza is sure to be mimicked in 2026 when the USA, Mexico and Canada are slated to co-host the month-long event.
