Family of man killed by Farmington Police files lawsuit

News

The family of a man shot and killed by police is suing the city of Farmington and the Department of Public Safety.

Officer Brant Warman was patrolling an area of U.S. 64 late last year when he saw a woman hanging out of the passenger side window of a pickup.

When the driver, 35-year-old Frankie Anchando, eventually pulled over, Officer Warman claims he got out and pointed an e-cigarette at him with both hands.

The officer thought it was a gun, so he shot and killed Anchondo.

According to a recently filed lawsuit, Anchondo’s brother Felix has been denied public records about the incident.

The city says the denial was due to a criminal investigation, but the lawsuit claims the refusal is illegal and has delayed Felix Anchondo’s ability to file a civil suit.
