For the first time, we’re hearing from the family of a man who was killed at an ATM.

Matthew Chavez is on trial for gunning down Tyler Lackey during a robbery near Gibson and Yale back in 2016.

Prosecutors say when Lackey wouldn’t give up his money, Chavez murdered him.

Lackey’s family says it’s been a long two years.

“Regardless of what the jury decides, it’s not gonna change much with missing him. But you know, I hope that guy never gets out of jail and puts another family through what we’ve gone through,” Lackey’s aunt, Paula Frank, said.

The trial has lasted all week and the jury is still deliberating.

Prosecutors say they were confused by some of the instructions, and could not come up with a verdict.

Deliberations will continue Monday.
